Cendayam
[Text nur in englischer Sprache verfügbar] Cendayam means “beauty” in old Malay literature. It is inspired by “Kolam”, a floor drawing made out of colored flour. It is believe “Kolam” will bring prosperity to homes or spaces that it is being presented.

Traditionally, “Kolam” is drawn on the flat surface of the ground with rice flour. For this exhibition, I explored the use of technology to enliven it and inspire reactions through the looping animation. “Kolam” is a cultural and artistic expression of a whole array of mathematical ideas and concepts. It is symmetry, patterned repetition, closed continues curves and curve families, all of which have applications and meaning in mathematics and computer science.

Cendayam is exhibited as a phygital artwork with the digital artwork is presented through the use of TV and projector while the physical artwork is presented through giphoscope. This artwork also exist on a blockchain in one of the NFT platforms. The use of TV screen and projector is a way for me to blur the line between tangible and intangible. We are normally stuck to the limitations of our screen but what if there is more beyond the screen?

The artwork is presented is multiple medium and platform. This was done to showcase the adaptability and flexibility of digital art.
