[Text nur in englischer Sprache verfügbar] Born at the intersection of border cultures and geographies, No Kolaj Gogol is a musician and composer of Persian and Azerbaijani heritage, raised in Armenia's Ararat Province. Born to a Persian mother and an Azerbaijani father exiled in Armenia, he developed a musical sensibility from childhood shaped by Caucasian traditions, Middle Eastern melodies, and influences from Central Asia.
After moving to Yerevan following his early studies, he enrolled at the Komitas State Conservatory, where he deepened his knowledge of music theory and composition without completing the formal academic program. His creative exploration continued independently, fueled by encounters with Russian-European experimental collectives and his early experiences in the Armenian capital's underground scene.
Among his artistic haunts, the club The Office in Yerevan became a key reference point for sound experimentation and the convergence of different musical cultures. Over the years, he developed a personal approach to electronic composition, moving between ambient, chill-out, and meditative music through the use of field recordings, analog textures, and melodic fragments inspired by Caucasian and Middle Eastern traditions.
His work weaves ambient, chill-out, and ethnic soundscapes into meditative landscapes constructed through field recordings, synthesizers, and Caucasian melodic motifs. His releases have appeared on independent labels such as Araz Tapes, Distant Caravan, and Saffron Frequencies, exploring the line between tradition and the avant-garde.
