[Text nur in englischer Sprache verfügbar] Conceived as part of an international Art & Science residency, launched by ClimatEurope2 and the Belgrade Science Promotion Center, Breathing is a performative installation where video, sound, and light intertwine to make climate data visible and tangible, in collaboration with the Belgrade Meteorological Center.
The concept is based on a poetic and critical staging: data from climate services are confronted with figurative elements, revealing their causes and consequences. The viewer thus traverses a visual and audio narrative constructed in several chapters: a gentle introduction that exposes so-called « classic » situations, a dive into our contemporary era and its tensions, then a projection toward possible futures, where the acceleration of climate change becomes palpable.
The scenography is based on a double screen: on the left, raw data (weather, pollution, temperatures, etc.) scrolls by in different forms; on the right, their visual translations into 3D
renderings, tangible metaphors of the impacts. This installation is accompanied by a sound creation, punctuated by a gradually accelerating heartbeat, and enhanced by colored LED strips that diffuse luminous atmospheres synchronized with the image and sound.
Between contemplation and alertness, Breathing unfolds an immersive experience that highlights the climate emergency. The work leads to sensory indigestion, concluding with an optimistic outlook. A regulation of climate change that emphasizes the collective use of climate data.
