[Text nur in englischer Sprache verfügbar] The "Bubble Trouble" is a journey through macromolecular blobs at different scales - from tens of nanometer, through mesoscopic, to macroscale. These blobs - in most cases - consist of the protein, DNA and water - loads of water, in fact. Their behavior, interactions, and fate are followed in the course of the "Bubble Trouble".

The idea was to introduce some concepts from the worlds of chemistry, biophysics, and molecular biology (such as solvation free energy, conformational entropy, degree of freedom, surface tension, or gene transcription) by the means of motion graphics, while reducing the verbal content to the absolute minimum. Different scales mean showing data from atomic resolution (x-ray crystallography and molecular dynamics simulations), cryo-EM maps, and the 'real' macroscopic footage - all combined.

The "Bubble Trouble" is not a scientific presentation and it was never meant to be. What it hopefully does, is to introduce some scientific ideas in an intuitive fashion and - hopefully - raise some questions about mechanisms of events such as molecular recognition, protein-protein-interactions, or viral infections.
