[Text nur in englischer Sprache verfügbar] The Live Cinema Festival opens a new chapter in its history as it arrives at MAM – Media Art Museum in Rome, taking over an extraordinary immersive space equipped with 27 projectors and transforming it into an unprecedented audiovisual environment for the festival.
For three days, audiences are invited to move beyond the boundaries of traditional viewing and immerse themselves in an experience where images, sounds, space, and perception merge into a single sensory flow. No longer simply a screen to watch, but an environment to explore, inhabit, and listen to.
The 13th edition explores new frontiers in live audiovisual performance, presenting for the first time a programme of immersive Expanded Live AV Performances: works conceived to engage with the entire space, envelop audiences, and redefine the relationship between artist, technology, and spectator. This exploration takes the language of live cinema beyond conventional formats, opening up new expressive and perceptual possibilities within a context of experimentation that is unique on the international scene.
Nine expanded audiovisual performances, featuring international artists and emerging talents from the Live Cinema Made in Italy section, create a journey through visions, soundscapes, algorithms, transforming images, and non-linear narratives. Each performance is a creative process unfolding in the present: images and sounds are generated, manipulated, and brought into dialogue in real time, giving rise to unrepeatable works.
At the heart of this exploration is the vision of Claudio Guerrieri, the festival's artistic director and a pioneer of the Italian live video scene since 1999. For more than twenty-five years, he has explored the intersections of images, sounds, and new technologies, anticipating the evolution of live audiovisual languages.
Alongside the performances, the festival presents AV installations, workshops, talks, and symposia, creating a meeting space for artists, researchers, professionals, and audiences. The programme brings artistic practice, technological innovation, and critical reflection into dialogue, questioning the role of images and sound in contemporary culture and exploring new forms of creativity in the age of artificial intelligence.
For thirteen editions, Live Cinema Festival has brought the most innovative explorations of the international audiovisual scene to Rome, fostering encounters between artistic languages, cultures, and generations. A journey dedicated to discovering new talents and promoting a culture of live audiovisual performance, where experimentation, exchange, and participation are integral parts of the experience.
Today, this exploration enters a new dimension. With 27 projectors and an immersive space designed to amplify every visual and sonic gesture, MAM becomes a place where live cinema can be reimagined, expanded, and experienced in its entirety.
